The Shield is St. Martin's student newspaper, written and produced by middle school students. Coverage includes news, sports and life at SMES. The advisors are Mrs. Katie Byrd, Middle School English teacher, Mrs. Charlotte O'Keefe, 5th grade English teacher and Ms. Jennie Paulsen, middle school social studies teacher. The newspaper staff meets on Thursday mornings and the paper publishes five times during the school year.
